They Say You Shouldn't Judge A Book By Its Cover…
…But the cover can tell you an awful lot!
The same is true with companies, churches and healthcare facilities. If the parking lot is filthy, the building looks run down and there are cracks in the walls, what assumptions are you going to make about the people who run the place?
First impressions count. In a lot of ways, your building is your business card.
We take a lot of pride in designing and building projects of all sizes. But we’re also there for our clients long after their projects have been completed because we want you to continue to make a great impression on your clients and your congregation.
That’s why our Small Projects Division is here to help with maintenance or small repairs. Project Manager Ryan Sanford and Construction Tech Daniel Isabell can help you with:
drywall repair
gutter cleaning
pressure washing
door repair and adjustments
door hardware and locks
concrete patching and repair
towel and toilet paper dispenser replacement
storage room racks and shelving
conferencing / video room modifications
and any other small construction project or maintenance item
From Project Client to Project Manager
Remember the old Hair Club For Men commercial in the 1980s? Sy Sperling would say, “I’m not only the Hair Club president; I’m also a client.”
Ryan Sanford, who heads up Dow Smith Company’s Small Projects Division, likes to joke that that sometimes he feels like the legendary Hair Club pitchman.
He wrote the following about how he came to become more than a client:
I’m a bi-vocational pastor of a little United Methodist church in Smyrna. I also work full-time outside the church. When our church building was built, in order to save money, no windows were installed in the sanctuary.
For almost 20 years, it’s been a rather dark and unwelcome room. We finally saved enough money to do some repairs to the building and the project of installing windows and upgrading the lighting was our first priority. However, we quickly found that coordinating the cutting of the walls, framing for the window openings, installing the windows, and finishing out the inside and out was more than we could handle. I spent well over a year trying to get a plan together and get the different trades lined up. I failed miserably.
After reading a blog from Dow Smith that described their new division that handles small jobs for customers, I quickly called Dow and set our project in motion. From start to finish, it was so easy and well-run for us. The difference it made in the church is more than I can describe, and the smoothness the project ran was better than I ever could have hoped for.
Now, nearly 2 years after we worked with Dow Smith on that little project, I’m moving over to work for DSC in that division as a project manager for this type of work. When the team first talked to me about joining them in this capacity, I couldn’t wait to share my story of how excited I was to join such an amazing team who I’ve worked with in the past and can confidently say there’s no one better. So, to spin that old commercial a bit, “I’m not just a client of Dow Smith Company, I’m also a part of the team!”
If you have any projects your organization has been dreaming of getting done, I would love to meet and discuss with you.
