This Brand, New Murfreesboro Facility is a Knock-Out!
Dow Smith Company completed a new, two-story, high-end building for Title Boxing Club at 1311 Greshampark Drive in Murfreesboro’s Gateway district this past winter. Working as the general contractor with Architect Rob McKelvey of McKelvey Architecture, we began the structural steel with masonry façade project last summer. Title Boxing Club occupies the second floor and the first floor is open for retail and/or office space. The new, 4,400-square-foot facility features guided boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts classes. One-on-one coaching is also available. Patrons work with certified trainers and can complement their workout with free weights and exercise equipment.
Because Title Boxing Club franchise owner Kyndon Oakes was new to Rutherford County, one of his first challenges was to find a trusted construction partner. “It was quite the process trying to find the right contractor for our project. We had met with several other companies and it seemed, due to the Nashville market, everyone had increased prices and made it difficult to know who was the proper choice,” says Kyndon.
One of the bigger challenges on this project was the location—a busy district with many other businesses nearby.
“We didn’t have much room to stage our work and store our equipment, and that challenge required tight supervision and close scheduling of deliveries by our Superintendent Trey King and our Project Manager Joey Rhyne,” notes Dow Smith, President.
“After meeting with the Dow Smith Company, it was clear that they were the right choice for the job. Throughout the process they were there to help guide us and make sure we were all on the same page. They are all genuine, caring individuals. We were able to work through any challenges that arose and come to agreeable decisions. They care about the client and the city that they are involved in. Even after our project was finished, they were open to helping us with anything that we needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of individuals and recommend them highly for any future projects,” adds Kyndon.
Today’s construction market is especially busy and competitive, and it can be very difficult to get subcontractors to quote and deliver on time.
This results in missed deadlines and cost overruns. “We are fortunate we don’t have this problem. We’re honest and straightforward with our subs about what we need and the schedule we need to adhere to. We also pay them on time,” adds Smith. “As a result, they trust and respect us. They want to do business with us, and in turn, those relationships benefit our clients in saving money and time.”
Despite the challenges, we’re glad to report we brought the project in on time and within budget for a quality result for Kyndon and Title Boxing Club. We wish them the very best! Visit Title Boxing Club online here.
