Our Purpose
To serve.
Our Mission
To serve Christ in the marketplace.
Our Core Values
Our Promise
At Dow Smith Company, we make mental guarantees and promises to ourselves from which each client and every new project benefits. They are rooted in our hearts and minds, made evident in our core values, and displayed in our purpose, to serve.
We promise:
• To get it right or make it right.
• To treat the client like it’s more than a transaction, it is a relationship.
• To put people over profits.
• To provide a unique and exceptional experience.
• To treat our client’s money like it is our money.
• To be a partner not just a contractor.
• To select clients who value us, who respect us, and who see us as more than a commodity or necessary evil.
• To tell the truth, even when it is hard, and to expect others to do the same.
3 Unique Ways Dow Smith Company Is Different
Than Other General Contractors
Servant Culture
The culture at Dow Smith starts with service. Listening to our clients and responding to their needs for a new or renovated building “lights our fire.” Pouring concrete, framing walls, hanging doors, and installing toilet paper holders are much more than just building activities. They are our ways to serve the needs of our clients.
Streamlined Process
From the moment we get hired, we immediately start a plan of action that we have crafted for more than 30 years. Imagine a flow chart that begins with assembling the design team and then moves to vision collaboration, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, construction, punch list, and move-in. And, all along those steps, a real world estimate is updated and shared with our client.
Transparent Communication
We show everything! We believe in developing strong relationships with our clients, but we can’t read their minds. The estimates we provide during the pre-construction phase and construction phase will show true and actual numbers. The fee we charge will be transparent. The wage we pay everyone is seen. Our labor burden is true. We will show all the quotes we receive from all of our subcontractors and vendors. And, when we have drawings sufficient to get quotes from subcontractors and vendors, we will get at least three estimates in each category. We make sure that our clients pay fair market value. We believe in consistent communication. We text. We email. We make telephone calls. And then we communicate what we anticipate to happen next. We communicate what we need to keep the project moving forward.
Practicing What We Preach

Our Membership in C12
C12 is not a business bible study or a Christian business networking group. It’s an architected environment for business, life, and leadership transformation. Designed exclusively for Christian CEOs and Executives, the C12 format helps us calibrate our business by providing a framework and format to evaluate and align to the focus areas in our signature 5-Point Alignment Matrix: revenue generation, operations management, financial management, organizational development, and ministry in and through the business.
When planning a new commercial or retail facility, one of the first decisions you’ll face is whether to pursue ground-up construction or to build out an existing structure. Each approach has its own set of advantages and challenges, and the choice ultimately depends on your specific business needs, budget, timeline, and long-term goals.
