Smyrna & LaVergne High Schools Have Construction MEP Teacher Openings

Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Teacher | Smyrna and LaVergne High Schools

Attention friends and colleagues!

I am typing in my loud outdoor voice. I want the world to know that Smyrna AND LaVergne High Schools have teacher openings in the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Pathways for Rutherford County for a Construction Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) teacher. This is a big deal!

Smyrna and LaVergne High Schools are seeking teachers who want to transition from the MEP marketplace into teaching our industry’s future leaders.

If you have learned a lot in the business and would like to give back (or you know someone who has), this may be just the thing for you:

  1. This position can change young people’s lives (and generations thereafter) by placing them into a very rewarding career, without be saddled with college student loan debt.

  2. You would get to work with great people. The culture at Smyrna and La Vergne is excellent.

  3. You work on a school calendar (Fall break, Christmas break, Spring break, Summer break).

  4. Benefits package that includes health insurance.

Sure, the salaries for these positions are likely less than what you’re currently making (teachers are underpaid, and that needs to be fixed), but when one is working in their calling, the economics works itself out.

What about teacher certification and the proper college degree? Great question.

Rutherford County Board of Education has made so that these challenges can be overcome in a very timely and feasible manner. The ideal teacher candidate needs to have an industry certification or is able to acquire the industry certification within the first school year of being hired, and complete the Rutherford County Schools Educator Prep Course of Study during the first 24 months of being hired. These costs are minimal.

The ideal candidate is one who works in the mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing industry (sales, service or parts) and is sick and tired of the commute to and from Nashville. They are currently working in a toxic environment with a crappy boss. They would rather make a difference and leave a legacy.

If this is something you’re interested in—or know someone who might be—you need to act now! If you have questions or need additional information, contact Tyra Pilgrim at pilgrimt@rcschools.net and/or Rebecca Murphy at murphyr@rcschools.net
